Golden Smoke is a resinous incense composed of amber from Gdańsk, myrrh from Oman, and frankincense from Yemen, interwoven with juniper berries, cedarwood, and marigold petals. When burned on charcoal, its golden fragrance moves through space like sunlight through smoke, transforming the air, purifying the atmosphere, and awakening whatever it touches.

The Kashubians of northern Poland have a long and intimate relationship with amber, a substance deeply woven into their coastal heritage. Archaeological findings trace the region’s amber trade back more than five thousand years, when pieces of this “Baltic gold” were carried along ancient routes from the shores of Gdańsk and Kashubia to the Mediterranean world.

The amber in Golden Smoke comes from these same Baltic shores. Formed around forty-four million years ago from the resin of prehistoric conifer forests, amber is both fossilized forest and fossilized sunlight, carrying within it the slow pulse of time itself.

For centuries, Baltic amber has been burned to dispel stagnation and to invite warmth, vitality, and protection. Its scent is deep, golden, and honeyed.

Myrrh is a fragrant resin drawn from the Commiphora trees of southern Arabia and Africa, one of the world’s oldest ritual substances. When the bark is cut, the tree releases golden drops of resin known as tears, which are then dried and used as incense or medicine.

Since ancient Egypt, myrrh has been prized for its healing and antiseptic properties, used in salves, wound care, and embalming, as well as in perfumes and temple offerings. It was regarded as both purifying and preserving, a substance that bridges the seen and unseen.

Its smoke grounds the spirit, invites introspection, and seals the subtle boundaries of the self. In the Catholic Church, myrrh remains an integral part of sacred incense, its resinous scent rising with prayer, symbolizing purification, devotion, and the connection between earth and heaven.

Frankincense, the holy resin of the Boswellia tree, was once worth more than gold. From the temples of Yemen to the altars of Jerusalem, its rising smoke has long been a prayer in motion, lifting the heart toward the divine.

Juniper and cedar lend a northern pulse to this blend, both purifiers and protectors. Juniper clears heaviness and calls in clarity, while cedar steadies, anchors, and sanctifies the space.

Marigold (Calendula officinalis) crowns the mixture, a flower of light and renewal, softening the sharper resins and tinting the smoke with a golden radiance.

The Golden Smoke Ritual Set contains a 200 ml incense blend, a pair of tongs for handling the resin, and four cubes of high quality charcoal.

To use, place a charcoal cube on your stove or hold it carefully over a gas flame until it becomes evenly glowing. Then set it on a heatproof surface, as it will become very hot. When the charcoal is ready, place a small amount of the incense on top. As it burns, the resins and botanicals gently vaporize into the air, releasing their golden fragrance and transforming the atmosphere around you.
